Did you know that the sun produced the most powerful solar flare in over a decade on September 6th? It was an X9.3! Fortunately the flare was not pointed in our direction. Click here

Speaking of things related to light, are you aware that after Mexico experienced a massive 8.2-magnitude earthquake on September 8th, Mexico City experienced a strange phenomenon known as earthquake lights? Click here

On a slightly different subject, have you heard that scientists have invented a new type of chocolate? They apparently named it Ruby after it's red hue. They say it has a light, fruity taste and a creamy texture. Click here

Is this energy source worth the detriment to wildlife, nature and your peaceful quality of life?

Photo point 12. View facing north(ref. project file ThurstonCountySUPApp-2017-03-07, project number 20171010332)

There are pros and cons to this form of "green energy". The cons however are substantial.
-Wildlife: Significant impact to raptors, bats, and other migratory birds striking these blades. They hit them and they die.
-Noise: The plan for this project is for up to 51 commerical scale turbines crossing Thurston and Lewis Counties with blades sweeping 354-446 feet. The height could be up to 449 feet. This energy is not silent. The blades and the turbines generate noise, as well as the new transmission lines that will be constructed. -Visual Pollution: The view will change to see a horizon with giant metal structures that are lit with blinking strobe commercial aircraft warning lights.

Monster belches: Sun produces most powerful solar flare in over decade (PHOTOS)
The sun started Wednesday with a bang, shooting out two solar flares, one of which was the strongest observed since 2005. Global communications and some GPS systems were temporarily affected on the sunny side of the Earth at the time. The first flare peaked at approximately 5:10am EDT and the second, larger flare peaked at 8:02am EDT. Thankfully, NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory watches the sun around the clock and was able to record these spectacular solar belches. Solar flares are huge bursts of radiation released by the sun. Our atmosphere protects us from the worst effects of the resulting radiation storms but if the flare is big enough, it can disrupt GPS satellites, certain radio frequencies and other global communications temporarily. The first flare was classified as an X2.2. The X-class are the most intense solar flares, with the number providing additional indications of their power. The second flare was an X9.3, over four times as powerful as the first and the largest solar flare in the current 11-year solar cycle that began in December 2008.

Petrodollar end looming as China & allies dump it in oil trading - Jim Rogers
Beijing has announced plans to start a crude oil futures contract priced in yuan and convertible into gold. The step might lead to the emergence of a new Asia-based crude oil benchmark to compete with Brent or West Texas Intermediate futures. RT talked to investing guru and financial commentator Jim Rogers to understand how much of a game changer this could be for an industry dominated by the dollar. “This is just another step in that direction. Many people do not like using US dollars because if the US gets angry at you, they just set enormous pressure on you that can even get you out of business. China, Russia, and other countries understand this, and they are trying to move world trade and world finance away from that,” said the Jim Rogers. As China is the world’s biggest crude buyer, the new contract may allow exporters to avoid US sanctions by trading oil in yuan. Such countries as Russia, Iran, Pakistan, Vietnam, China and many other Asian countries are interested in that, according to the expert.

Pound at highest since Brexit as Bank of England signals rate hike
On Friday the British pound soared to its highest post-EU referendum level against the US dollar after a strong hint from the Bank of England (BOE) of a possible rates rise in the coming months. It could be the first interest rate rise since July 2007. Sterling touched $1.36 against the greenback – the highest since last July, was trading at $1.35 as of 14:47pm GMT. It was up almost one percent against the euro, at €1.13. Dragged down by the pound’s gains, the benchmark index FTSE 100 slid 1.06 percent to 7,218.39. A higher UK currency tends to slam the blue-chip index lower, as it impacts the earnings of the multinational companies that make the bulk of their money overseas. BOE policymaker Gertjan Vlieghe, who has previously argued against a rate rise, said in a speech the "moment is approaching" when interest rates might need to go up. “Until recently, I thought the appropriate response of monetary policy was to be patient, given modest growth and subdued underlying inflationary pressure. But the evolution of the data is increasingly suggesting we are approaching the moment when bank rate may need to rise,” said Vlieghe.

Please HELP My Daughter!

The other day I saw this quote: "Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly". This toughed me for it reminded me that many are experiencing caterpillar thoughts, especially my daughter Susan. For four months she and her children have been experiencing a divorce. I have called for Divine Assistance to help them step through the doors of change in love, not hate, to create life renewed not destroyed. The Go Fund Me program was created to help pay for her attorney. Please read Susan's story and help if you can. In a new future, like the caterpillar, she will bring into her life changes and, like the butterfly, move into a new environment. Sharon H.

Ruby – New Type Of Chocolate Invented– It’s Pink And Very Different
If you like chocolate then this is good news for you! Scientists have invented a new type of chocolate!  It’s a fourth type of chocolate after milk, dark and white and the first new type in 80 years. Named after its characteristic red hue, Ruby has a sweet taste and is expected to be popular among consumers. Ruby was invented by Swiss chocolate Barry Callebaut AG. Scientists say they ruby cocoa bean to create a confectionery with “berry-fruitiness and luscious smoothness”. “It’s “very different and clever stuff. It’s refreshing and has a light, creamy texture.” It tastes so light and fruity you don’t really realize you’re gobbling up one chocolate the other, so it means consumers will be able to eat more of it than other types of conventional chocolate. Whether this a good or bad thing depends on your point of view,” Angus Kennedy, an industry expert said. British chocolate expert Dom Ramsey told The Independent that he is “skeptical” of the claim that a fourth type of chocolate has been created. “A few years ago, French chocolate company Valrhona launched a caramelized white chocolate that they also sold as the ‘fourth type of chocolate’, and that turned out to be little more than marketing.

'All-seeing' camera to revolutionize 'robotically augmented surgeries'
A team of Scottish scientists has produced a prototype camera that can see through the human body like never before and could revolutionize the detection, diagnosis and treatment of some of the world’s most hard-to-treat diseases. “My favourite element of this work was the ability to work with clinicians to understand a practical healthcare challenge, then tailor advanced technologies and principles that would not normally make it out of a physics lab to solve real problems,” lead researcher Dr. Tanner of Heriot-Watt University said. “I hope we can continue this interdisciplinary approach to make a real difference in healthcare technology.” The camera is designed for use alongside endoscopes, and other surgically invasive tools, tracking the devices as they pass through the body by detecting the individual photons emitted by their affixed torches.
