Editor's Corner

Greetings,
Did you know that researchers have come up with a breakthrough device that heals organs with a single touch? Apparently this device, with one touch of less than a second, can reprogram skin cells to become whatever is needed. Click here

Speaking of technology, are you aware that NASA is going to use two small satellites, connected by a 112-mile long thin tether, to study mysterious swirling patterns on the surface of the moon? Apparently the reason for the two tethered satellites, as opposed to one or two separate satellites, is that one can be in a really high orbit while the other is in a really low orbit allowing the low orbit satellite to get a close-up look at the surface without requiring fuel to keep from crashing. On a slightly different subject, have you seen the pictures of the bizarre clouds over Finland on August 9th? The pictures show what appears to be a huge round hole in the cloud cover. Click here

There's more, but I will leave the rest for you to discover and enjoy. Have a wonderful week.

NASA to use miles-long tethers in Moon’s orbit to study lunar ‘swirls’
NASA is developing a “novel” new mission that will study the Moon’s mysterious surface patterns using two miniature satellites connected by a 112-mile-long thin tether. Scientists are hoping the mission will help them better understand how the moon developed the swirling patterns of light and dark that can be found on more than 100 locations across the lunar surface, according to NASA. The patterns “look almost as if they were painted on the surface of the Moon,” the statement says. NASA’s Planetary Science Deep SmallSat Studies program selected a team at the Goddard Space Flight Center to develop the mission called the Bi-sat Observations of the lunar Atmosphere above Swirls (BOLAS). The mission will involve two 12-unit miniaturized satellites, known as CubeSats, which will measure four inches on either side, that will connected by a 112-mile (180-km) long thin tether.

Breakthrough device heals organs with a single touch

Researchers at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Ohio State's College of Engineering have developed a new technology, Tissue Nanotransfection (TNT), that can generate any cell type of interest for treatment within the patient's own body. This technology may be used to repair injured tissue or restore the function of aging tissue, including organs, blood vessels and nerve cells.
