Editors Corner

Did you know that there is now a technology that can detect 17 different diseases just by analyzing a persons breath? It's not actually on the market yet but "hopefully soon...". Click here

Speaking of detection, are you aware that "Research conducted by the FDA shows that more than 99 percent of all cosmetic lip products and cosmetics applied externally ... are tainted with lead." Lead can accumulate in the body over time and can affect almost every organ and system in the body. Click here

On a unrelated subject, we have a new advertiser this week: Yelm Refrigeration. They do a lot more then refrigeration-related things - see their ad for the full list. Click here

That's it from me for this week.

Satellite spots MASSIVE object hidden under the frozen wastes of Antarctica
SCIENTISTS believe a massive object which could change our understanding of history is hidden beneath the Antarctic ice. The huge and mysterious “anomaly” is thought to be lurking beneath the frozen wastes of an area called Wilkes Land. It stretches for a distance of 151 miles across and has a maximum depth of about 848 metres. Some researchers believe it is the remains of a truly massive asteroid which was more than twice the size of the Chicxulub space rock which wiped out the dinosaurs. If this explanation is true, it could mean this killer asteroid caused the Permian–Triassic extinction event which killed 96 percent of Earth’s sea creatures and up to 70 percent of the vertebrate organisms living on land. However, the wilder minds of the internet have come up with their own theories, with some conspiracy theorists claiming it could be a massive UFO base or a portal to a mysterious underworld called the Hollow Earth.

Superior fog
Menacing misty wall blankets largest of Great Lakes

In a rare atmospheric phenomenon, an enormous wall of icy fog has been filmed billowing over Lake Superior in Minnesota. The fog was filmed by local photographer Levi Drevlow on December 18, and it looks like something out of a disaster movie, dwarfing a freighter in the port of Duluth as it fearlessly steers straight towards the snowy fog bank.

Judge Orders U.S. Government To Release Classified Surveillance Files
Proponents of digital privacy and government transparency scored a victory on Thursday as a federal judge ordered the Department of Justice to provide files related to a secret telephone spying program.  In 2013, The New York Times reported on the existence of a previously unknown data-mining program known as Project Hemisphere. The project was developed in secret by telecommunications giant AT&T and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) as a tool to help with “drug-enforcement task-forces.” However, there is concern about mass surveillance of innocent individuals. Hemisphere searches trillions of phone records, identifies the name and location of each and individual on the phone, and then sends the data back to the DOJ. Now, U.S. Magistrate Judge Maria-Elena James has found that the U.S. government has failed to justify their reasoning for denying Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests related to Project Hemisphere. Judge James order the DOJ to provide her with files for her own private review.

MIT Scientist Explains Why Modern Wheat is Causing So Many Health Problems
The use of Monsanto’s Round-up herbicide has increased substantially over the last 40 years. Many researchers are starting to believe that increased use of glyphosate, the active ingredient in Round-up, correlates to the rise in many modern diseases. According to Dr. Stephanie Seneff, a senior research scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), glyphosate appears to be strongly correlated with the rise in Celiac disease, and, more generally, gluten intolerance. “[G]ut dysbiosis, brought on by exposure to glyphosate, plays a crucial role in the development of celiac disease. Many CYP enzymes are impaired in association with celiac disease, and we show that glyphosate’s known suppression of CYP enzyme activity in plants and animals plausibly explains this effect in humans.” ~ Glyphosate, pathways to modern diseases II: Celiac sprue and gluten intolerance by Dr. Anthony Samsel and Dr. Stephanie Seneff

FDA suggests new limit on lead used in lipstick… are you painting your face with toxic heavy metals?
Responding to widespread and growing concern about heavy metals in personal care products, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently issued a new draft guidance recommending lower limits for lead in many popular cosmetic products, including lipsticks, lip glosses, lip liners, eye shadows, blushes, body lotions, and shampoos. While not binding, the recommendation by the FDA maintains that lead levels beyond 10 parts per million (ppm) represent a potential public health threat, as exposure to these amounts or higher result in detectable levels of lead in the blood. Lead, of course, is a known neurotoxin that tends to accumulate in the body over time. According to reports, the FDA guidance was prompted by a Citizen Petition submitted in 2011 by an association representing the personal care products industry. This petition pushed the FDA to take a closer look at cosmetic products, and particularly those applied to the lips, to make sure they aren’t breaching safety levels that might put customers at risk.
