Editors Corner

Greetings,
This week has been a busy and chaotic week for me, my father and one of my brothers. I don't usually talk much about myself or my personal life here but, being as this may affect the running of the MastersConnection2020 in the coming weeks, I thought it would be a good idea to let you, our readers know what is happening. Basically, we (my father, my brother and myself) must move out of where we have been living and find a different place fairly quickly, preferably within a few miles or so of where we have been living. On a different subject, did you know that bats (the creature, not the item used in sports) are good for your garden? Apparently, they are not only good for getting rid of bugs, as you may have already known, but also for helping with pollination. Click here

Have you ever wondered what the world would look like from the perspective of a bird? I suppose these days you can just use Google Earth or Google Maps to 'fly' over pretty much anywhere in the world. While we don't have anything quite that 'fancy', we do have some stunning and interesting pictures of what a birds perspective might be like. Click here

Moving from birds to healing, you've most likely heard about stem cells, and about how embryonic stem cells are really good but also very controversial. Well, it looks like scientists have figured out how to make just about any cells in the human body in to the equivalent of embryonic stem cells in as little as 30 minutes. Click here

Well, that's about it from me for now. Enjoy this newsletter and don't forget to support our advertisers.
See you next week.

Welcome Bats to Your Garden
Bees are among our favorite pollinators, but there’s another group of pollinators out there that doesn’t get nearly as much friendly press: bats. That’s right! Far from being vampires in disguise, bats are actually a vital part of the natural ecosystem, and while you might not know it yet, you really want them in your garden. We’re going to tell you why… and how to convince them to drop in and set up housekeeping in your neighborhood. To begin with, bats are great natural pollinators. You might not see them because they come out at night, but bats are playing a big role in flowering, fruit setting, and more, especially if you live in the tropics or near a desert region. Nectar-feeding bats love a good flower garden, and they’ll be delighted to settle in where there’s an ample food supply. Other bat species eat small insects, which is good news for gardeners interested in natural pest control. Having problems with garden pests? Annoyed by bugs that come out at night to make sitting on your nice garden terrace unpleasant? You need some bats in the ‘hood, because they’ll take care of your problems for you! There’s something really cool about seeing bats come out in the twilight hours, hovering around to hoover up dinner, and you’ll experience some serious relief from stinging and biting insects in addition to garden pests.

Something to Contemplate

Use Your Mind To Change Reality - It Is Easier Than You Think!
Albert Einstein once said that "reality is merely an illusion, albeit a very persistent one". It seems difficult to imagine that our most happy, sad and emotional moments in life are simply nothing more than an illusion created in our minds. Even more surprising is the suggestion that everyone can create the reality they choose. How is it possible? The power of thoughts is perhaps stronger than most people realize. Scientists' interest in the subject is increasing and quantum physics is rapidly gaining popularity among non-physicists. Quantum physics study of the behavior of matter and energy at the molecular, atomic, nuclear, and even smaller microscopic levels. In the realm of quantum physics, observing something actually influences the physical processes taking place. What makes quantum physics (sometimes also called quantum mechanics or quantum field theory) so special is that nothing is as one would expect it to be. Light waves act like particles and particles act like waves Matter can go from one spot to another without moving through the intervening space (called quantum tunnelling). Information moves instantly across vast distances. In fact, in quantum mechanics we discover that the entire universe is actually a series of probabilities.

Mind Over Matter: Princeton & Russian Scientist Reveal The Secrets of Human Aura & Intentions
A Russian scientist has been studying the human energy field and is claiming that people can change the world simply by using their own energy. While this idea is not new, not too many have taken the time to scientifically go about proving such ideas -although the field of quantum physics has shed some powerful light on the topic over the years. Dr. Konstantin Korotkov, professor of physics at St. Petersburg State Technical University, states that when we think positive and negative thoughts, each have a different impact on our surrounding environment. We cannot see energy very easily with the human eye and thus the world of unseen energy can be difficult for the mind to grasp without scientific measurements to verify what is taking place. Perhaps this is why the study of consciousness affecting our reality has been virtually untouched for so long. To help create a bridge between our physical and unseen world, scientific experiments using a technique called bioelectrophotography are being carried out. In these experiments, an assumption must be made that states the human body and consciousness is constantly emitting energy. Following this assumption, Bioelectrophotography aims to capture these energy fields seen as a light around the body. In the metaphysical world this energy emission is known as a person’s aura, while in the scientific field, it is often refereed to as our energy field.

Make Stem Cells in 30 Minutes, Just Add Acid
Embryonic stem cells have huge potential in treating everything from cancer to diabetes because of their ability to morph into almost any other type of cell within the human body. But here’s a new twist on these controversial cells: what if you could do the reverse, and turn almost any human cell into the equivalent of an embryonic stem cell without taking the cells from an embryo in the first place? A technique to do just that was first developed back in 2006, but it wasn’t exactly easy or quick. A new technique, however, simplifies the effort required to create what are known as pluripotent stem (iPS) cells — stem cells which can become anything from lungs to nerves to bone. As described today in two papers (1, 2) published in the journal Nature, mammalian cells can be exposed to very low levels of acid and a few other factors. This stress was enough to make the cells pluripotent in as little as 30 minutes. Not only that, they were more malleable than the iPS cells developed back in 2006. One of the studies’ co-authors, stem-cell research Yoshiki Sasai with the RIKEN Center for Developmental Biology in Japan, told Nature that this discovery is “amazing. I would have never thought external stress could have this effect.”

In The News

ABC News sued for broadcasting news about pink slime beef byproducts
Back in 2012, when ABC News broke the story of an industrial beef byproduct being secretly added to children's lunches, the nation was outraged. And a major purveyor of that byproduct, South Dakota-based Beef Products Inc. (BPI), suffered massive losses as a result, which prompted the company to file a lawsuit against ABC News for allegedly defaming its "pink slime" additive, which was previously being added to lower-quality beef products without proper labels. According to reports, the backlash against pink slime was so strong throughout much of the country that BPI was forced to shut down three of its four production plants and lay off over 650 employees. The general public, now aware of a highly processed, ammonia-laced additive hiding in some beef, quickly came to realize that we have all been tricked, ultimately driving all of that potentially contaminated beef product off grocery store shelves and out of fast food restaurants and school cafeterias. So in an attempt to recoup its tremendous losses, BPI is now claiming that ABC News, and specifically anchor Diane Sawyer and correspondents Jim Avila and David Kerley, all of whom delivered the story, somehow defamed and libeled its product, for which $1.2 billion in damages is being sought.
