Your Feedback

From MC2020 reader Leilani in response to Salida Open House Postponed due to Wasps:

Hi Greg,
This might help with the wasps.  It's free and no toxins.
Call the Bee Man.  I just had 3 big nests removed this Summer which took 3 hours to complete.  I previously located 2 nests, and while he was there, discovered a third.  Easy to see the path of travel and find the nest.  They do a great job.  The wasps or hornets are sold to labs where they are used in making medicinal substances.  Cool, heh?

Bee Man Exterminators
Free service removing unsprayed nests of bumble bees, wasps, hornets, and yellow jackets.
Mike Juhl, "The Bee Man", started removing nests of bees, wasps, hornets, & yellow jackets in the early 1970s. Removing the insects live, with out the use of pesticides.

All the best,

November TBA: Salida Open House
The SALIDA OPEN HOUSE is POSTPONED AGAIN!! The wasps are fully enjoying the grapes in the holding bins – We are in the middle of crush. SALIDA does not want to subject any of you to that environment – too dangerous – Doug was stung 6 times over the weekend. We will wait until the cold weather gets rid of the wasps – sometime in November for the Salida Open House & High Holidays Celebration. We will set a date and let you know. To help ease the disappointment, we will have LIVE MUSIC at the Salida Wine Bar this weekend, and make available the two NEW releases: 2011 Tres Vinos and 2011 Tempranillo. You have waited long enough to taste and enjoy these two delicious wines. We will have PRIMAL UNION with Jon Baroni on piano and Tod Lemkuhl on guitar: Friday, and Saturday, 7 PM – 9 PM. Those of you in the Wine Club that have not picked up your wine, it will be at the wine bar this weekend.

Health Watch

After years of suppression, scientists finally admit copper destroys norovirus (and so does silver)
The highly infectious norovirus, or stomach flu bug, causes a very common illness, affecting hundreds of millions of people who come into contact with it through contaminated food, water, surfaces or other people every year. Now, scientists have discovered that copper and its more than 300 different alloys don't just fight norovirus - copper destroys it. Simulating contamination via touch, researchers found that norovirus could not survive on any dry surface containing more than 60% copper. The findings do not apply solely to norovirus either but to a range of various fungi and bacteria. Armed with this knowledge, lead study author Sarah Warnes noted that copper-rich antimicrobial surfacing in high-traffic public areas, especially care facilities, could reduce norovirus exposure and significantly cut down how many people get sick. This research reaffirms a previous study out of the University of Nebraska that was the first to demonstrate that when microbes were exposed to dry, copper-infused surfaces, hundreds of millions of bacterial cells died within minutes.
