Editors Corner

In the last newsletter I mentioned I was going away for a bit. I learned a lot while I was gone. For example, we have a certain perception of time and what the future holds. It's interesting to watch how that perception can change with new information.

Speaking of perception, we start our newsletter this week with "Couched in the Remarkable" by Rene Westbrook. In it, she talks about how she thought that she had manifested one thing, only to find that she had actually manifested something better. Click here.

While we're on the subject of something better, imagine only having to refuel your automobile once a century! Click here. I like the idea of long lasting technology.

Here's another piece of technology you might find interesting. It's a way to "move physical objects without actually being there". Click here.

It seems, the more we advance in technology, the more vulnerable it is to electromagnetic pulses. Whether these pulses are caused by something man made, or our sun. In "5 Minute News" we have updates on our sun, space weather in general and comet ISON. Click here.

Well, that about wraps it up for this newsletter. Check out our website, for more stories in science, technology, space and other interesting topics.

Until next week....

Couched in the Remarkable
By Rene Westbrook

There are many ways to hit the jackpot.  Normally, I seize every opportunity to test that theory as I go about my created day, moving from one scenario to another.  I share this quirky and anecdotal tale with you as a reminder that unseen elements of this great life can creep up when we least expect it, often with amazing results. You see, I have been looking for a daybed for months now and knew that the swanky sofa with its $400. price tag at World Market was not the ticket for my budget.  So, I do what I know to do, I focus!!!!!  Every time I went out into the thrift shop world, I looked earnestly for something similar to that beautifully designed imported daybed that I fell in love with.  No go and yet I was never discouraged because I knew my focus worked.  I have had countless examples on and off the field to know that what you hold in your mind with clear intent can materialize when you least expect it.  We all have such stories and love to regal our friends with the whopping wonderment of it all.

Thorium-Fueled Automobile Engine Needs Refueling Once a Century
There are now over one billion cars traveling roads around the world directly and indirectly costing trillions of dollars in material resources, time and noxious emissions. Imagine all these cars running cleanly for 100 years on just 8 grams of fuel each. Laser Power Systems (LPS) from Connecticut, USA, is developing a new method of automotive propulsion with one of the most dense materials known in nature: thorium. Because thorium is so dense it has the potential to produce tremendous amounts of heat. The company has been experimenting with small bits of thorium, creating a laser that heats water, produces steam and powers a mini turbine. Current models of the engine weigh 500 pounds, easily fitting into the engine area of a conventionally-designed vehicle. According to CEO Charles Stevens, just one gram of the substance yields more energy than 7,396 gallons (28,000 L) of gasoline and 8 grams would power the typical car for a century.
