Why do you seek freedom?
There are an endless number of things to want in this world. Desires are endless because when one desire is satisfied soon another rises to take its place continuing the cycle of wanting. Human life is usually characterized by movement (desire) either towards some object whether that object be money, power, relationship, enlightenment, sex, pleasure or whatever or away from something we don’t want. Desire can be seen as movement of mind energy building up to a point of climax when the object of desire is obtained and pleasure is felt (or we are rid of something). We tend to seek one object after another ceaselessly trying to get back to a state of pleasure, relief or fulfillment. Yet no one can maintain states of pleasure even spiritual feelings of bliss and peace seem to come and go.

The Connected Universe

New “Connected Universe” Theory Offers Potential New Source Of Energy
A groundbreaking paper published last week sheds new light on the theory of gravity and the potential to significantly impact global issues facing the human race, including alternative energy sources. Nassim Haramein, Director of Research at the Hawaii Institute for Unified Physics (HIUP), has authored a paper titled “Quantum Gravity and the Holographic Mass,” which has been validated and published in the peer review journal, Physical Review and Research International. This paper discusses Haramein’s “Connected Universe” theory, which offers a new and alternative understanding of gravity through basic algebraic and geometric equations. Haramein’s work indicates everything in the universe is connected, from the largest to the smallest scale, through a unified understanding of gravity. He demonstrates that it is the space that defines matter and not matter that defines space.

Human Transmutation
Submitted by MC2020 reader Carlos Tavares, South Africa

Carlos TavaresTransmute: - “change the form or nature or substance of, convert into something different”
Transmutation: - “one is evolved from another and not separately created”

Could it be that right now we are seeing the birth a new race of humans? Not only seeing but actually becoming it ourselves.

We are actually transmuting into something other than what we were. Sometimes after we have been involved in a deep spiritual retreat or long intense period of meditation we can see the direct effect of this on our bodies. This can be due to the affect on our mind due to radical new knowledge that we have just learned in the conventional ways by reading or hearing it. It can also happen while we are in a “trans-state” during a deep focussed mediation where we are sub-consciously downloading or more correctly activating that knowledge in our brains, as the subconscious mind already knows everything.

7 Dodgy Food Practices Banned in Europe But Just Fine Here [in the US]
Last week, the European Commission voted to place a two-year moratorium on most uses of neonicotinoid pesticides, on the suspicion that they're contributing to the global crisis in honeybee health . Since then, several people have asked me whether Europe's move might inspire the US Environmental Protection Agency to make a similar move—currently, neonics are widely used in several of our most prevalent crops, including corn, soy, cotton, and wheat. The answer is no. As I reported recently, an agency press officer told me the EU move will have no bearing on the EPA's own reviews of the pesticides, which aren't scheduled for release until 2016 at the earliest.

Rat 'Mutton' And Bird Flu: Strange Days For Meat Eaters In Shanghai
The past couple of months have been unsettling ones for meat eaters in Shanghai. In March, more than 16,000 dead pigs showed up in a stretch of the Huangpu River — a main source of the city's drinking water. Local officials insisted both the water and the city's pork supply were safe, but they never explained exactly how the pigs died or how they ended up in the river. One working theory was that farmers upstream in neighboring Zhejiang province dumped the dead pigs after officials there cracked down on the practice of selling diseased pork to local markets. On China's increasingly irreverent social media, some people tried to look on the bright side and suggested that Shanghai's river had essentially become a giant bowl of pork soup.

RACHEL PARENT Founder, The Kids Right To Know: GMOs, Just Label It! Campaign
The Grade 8 student, who has travelled to Brazil’s Amazon to witness forest devastation by GM soy, is one of the anti-GM movement’s most serious campaigners, and gives new meaning to the term “youth activism.” The Monsanto crowd’s gotta be having a bird over a self-possessed 13-year-old raising the spectre that laboratory eats can’t be healthy for children and other living things. Parent’s biotech takedown features costumed rallies, sassy online videos and a packed speaking schedule. She once baked a 48-inch GM-free apple pie, the Occu Pie, for street people in St. James Park. And while she likes to sport honey bee garb at protests, don’t let the fun throw you off – this animal lover/baking buff has set herself the awesome mission of freeing her whole generation from the clutches of Kellogg, Kraft, Sara Lee, McCain, Nestle and Frito-Lay. Now, that’s ambition.

March Against Monsanto
On May 25, activists around the world will unite to March Against Monsanto.

Why do we march?
Research studies have shown that Monsanto’s genetically-modified foods can lead to serious health conditions such as the development of cancer tumors, infertility and birth defects.
In the United States, the FDA, the agency tasked with ensuring food safety for the population, is steered by ex-Monsanto executives, and we feel that’s a questionable conflict of interests and explains the lack of government-led research on the long-term effects of GM products.
Recently, the U.S. Congress and president collectively passed the nicknamed “Monsanto Protection Act” that, among other things, bans courts from halting the sale of Monsanto’s genetically-modified seeds.

What is a Vortex
And How Can You Find One

Mount Shasta's Weird Vortex Forest
Every year tourists from all over the world visit Mt. Shasta to experience the area’s unique energies and vortex sites. But what exactly is a “vortex”, and how do you find one? The answer to that question largely depends upon who you ask. Some people seek out vortexes by dowsing for them, or using their own intuition and instincts. Others attend tours lead by local spiritual guides who bring  them to a vortex located somewhere on the mountain.  Others don’t believe in them at all. In the simplest of terms a vortex is a naturally occurring phenomenon which can be observed in nature. A whirlpool, lenticular clouds, and dust devils are all common examples of vortexes created by a spiraling, funnel-shaped motion of air or liquid spinning around a central axis of rotation. The same phenomenon which creates the energy and flow of natural vortex systems is also believed to be part of a process that produces the generation of subtler spiritual rhythms and energies around us. One popular conception of a vortex is a torus, which is also a common pattern which repeats itself throughout nature.

The Most Controversial Chart in History, Explained
Back in 1998, a little known  climate scientist named Michael Mann and two colleagues published a paper that sought to reconstruct the planet’s past temperatures going back half a millennium before the era of thermometers—thereby showing just how out of whack recent warming has been. The finding: Recent northern hemisphere temperatures had been “warmer than any other year since (at least) AD 1400.” The graph depicting this result looked rather like a hockey stick: After a long period of relatively minor temperature variations (the “shaft”), it showed a sharp mercury upswing during the last century or so (“the blade”).

How to Eat an Apple Like a Boss

baby&me / the new evian film

In many shamanic societies, if you came to a shaman or medicine person complaining of being disheartened, dispirited, or depressed, they would ask one of four questions:
When did you stop Dancing?
When did you stop Singing?
When did you stop being enchanted by Stories?
When did you stop finding comfort in the sweet territory of Silence?
Dancing, singing, storytelling, and silence are the four universal healing salves and where we have stopped them is where we have experienced the loss of soul.

Flow of Tainted Water Is Latest Crisis at Japan Nuclear Plant
Two years after a triple meltdown that grew into the world’s second worst nuclear disaster, the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant is faced with a new crisis: a flood of highly radioactive wastewater that workers are struggling to contain. Groundwater is pouring into the plant’s ravaged reactor buildings at a rate of almost 75 gallons a minute. It becomes highly contaminated there, before being pumped out to keep from swamping a critical cooling system. A small army of workers has struggled to contain the continuous flow of radioactive wastewater, relying on hulking gray and silver storage tanks sprawling over 42 acres of parking lots and lawns. The tanks hold the equivalent of 112 Olympic-size pools. But even they are not enough to handle the tons of strontium-laced water at the plant — a reflection of the scale of the 2011 disaster and, in critics’ view, ad hoc decision making by the company that runs the plant and the regulators who oversee it.

This is our Energy Reality

Carbon dioxide passes symbolic mark
Daily measurements of CO2 at a US government agency lab on Hawaii have topped 400 parts per million for the first time. The station, which sits on the Mauna Loa volcano, feeds its numbers into a continuous record of the concentration of the gas stretching back to 1958. The last time CO2 was regularly above 400ppm was three to five million years ago - before modern humans existed. Scientists say the climate back then was also considerably warmer than it is today. Carbon dioxide is regarded as the most important of the manmade greenhouse gases blamed for raising the temperature on the planet over recent decades. Human sources come principally from the burning of fossil fuels such as coal, oil and gas. The usual trend seen at the volcano is for the CO2 concentration to rise in winter months and then to fall back as the northern hemisphere growing season kicks in. Forests and other vegetation pull some of the gas out of the atmosphere.

One Million Enigmatic Petroglyphs At Pilbara May Be The Planet's Most Ancient
The rugged and remote Pilbara region, located about 1,300 kilometres north of Perth, Australia and covering some 500,000 square kilometres of land, is one of Australia's most fascinating places with traces of Earth's earliest life. The ancient Pilbara's 2.5 billion year old landscape keeps many prehistoric secrets. Some of them have recently been unveiled by reseachers working in the area. Researchers collecting rock samples in Pilbara region have discovered a mineral - 'tranquillityite' - previously believed to exist only on the Moon. The team from the University of Western Australia (UWA) and Curtin University in Perth found the mineral in Pilbara's dolerite rocks at six different sites in the state's north. The uranium-lead dating indicates that the Pilbara rocks containing tranquillityite were over 1 billion years old, about 200 million years older than other scientific estimates, reported Australian Geographic.

Kids Risking Their Lives to Reach School

For most parents and kids, crossing the street to catch the school bus is perhaps the riskiest part of the school run. But take a look at these Chinese schoolchildren from the village of Genguan. Everyday, these young kids walk along a precarious path carved by the side of a cliff, as they make their way to class in Bijie, in southwest China's Guizhou Province. Banpo Elementary School is located halfway up a mountain and the path to it winds through treacherous hillside passes and tunnels hewn out of the rock.

THIS IS WATER - By David Foster Wallace

We Are Not Alone In This

Life is becoming more sacred, more holy, more synchronistic, more spiritually sustaining every day. When the darkness increases, the light moves in its own evolution. As we renew our dedication, the possibility of a new heaven and a new earth, as promised, enters into the feeling of daily life. More than anything it is a feeling. I cannot see it, but I can feel the coming of it. There comes, from time to time, a peaceful solidity within. We have to do the work on ourselves…  I have to do the work on myself. That is the way, the only way… know yourself, clean house, and learn to love. Last night I was caught in hell, in my own mind, and I wrestled with it and won. Various scenarios of the end game were playing out in my mind, and it became a repeating cycle. My imagination went to this possibility, and then to that possibility, and on and on in a loop: back to A and then to B and then to C. Fear had gotten a grip, and it dawned on me… I’m caught! I turned on the light thinking, “This is not me! How do I get out of here?”

Plants "Listen" to the Good Vibes of Other Plants
When basil "speaks," chilies "listen."
Plants might be able to eavesdrop on their neighbors and use the sounds they "hear" to guide their own growth, according to a new study that suggests plants use acoustic signaling to communicate with one another. "We have shown that plants can recognize when a good neighbor is growing next to them," said study co-author Monica Gagliano, an evolutionary ecologist at the University of Western Australia. "We are proposing that this communication may be based upon an acoustic exchange." The findings, published this week in the journal BMC Ecology, suggest that plants can not only "smell" the chemicals and "see" the reflected light of their neighbors, they may also "listen" to the plants around them. "Plants are more complex organisms than we've given them credit for," Gagliano said.

Spectacular 'Ring of Fire' Solar Eclipse Wows Skywatchers
The moon blocked out part of the sun on Friday in a dazzling "ring of fire" solar eclipse that amazed lucky observers around the world, from Australia to Hawaii. The annular solar eclipse was best seen in remote parts of western Australia, where the moon covered most — but not all — of the sun, leaving a spectacular ring of light around the lunar silhouette. Because the eclipse's path crossed the International Dateline, it began in Australia on Friday, May 10, local time, but ended late Thursday, May 9.

GreaseAdGrease is Still the Word

Move over, John Travolta: there’s a new Danny Zuko in town and his name is Austin. As for you, Olivia Newton-John, the role of Sandy has been taken over by Airies, another Phoenix Rising student. The middle school came up with the idea of doing a min-version of Grease, the popular Broadway musical turned film that dominated movie theaters in the 70’s and lives forever on cable. “The middle school students are the ones that have made it happen,” says Sophie Sykes, theatrical director. “They came up and asked me if they could do it.” The cast will be performing three shows at the Triad Theater in downtown Yelm on Thursday, May 30th, Friday, May 31st and Saturday, June 1st. All proceeds will go to support the expansion of the Phoenix Rising Art and Design Program.

“Rehearsals are going great,” says Sophie. “We have about 15 students from grades 3 to 6 that have all memorized their lines and songs and dances.” According to Austin, the boys have “Greased Lightning” down, and Astroleah says the girls have conquered the complicated “Hand Jive”.
