What is to become of us? Will we be afraid or will we be creators of our destiny?

2012 has come and gone. . .How has your life changed? How will you evolve into 2013 and the future beyond?  Terri Simpson and I agree it is time to eat some of that food storage. She has provided us with a wonderful recipe for combining beans and rice for a complete protein.  Sometimes I marvel at how wonderful it is that those dried beans and rice can lie dormant all those years and, when revived with the magic of water, can nourish our hungry cells.  It really is a miracle.  Thank you, Terri, for your recipe and real world wisdom. Click here

Be sure to watch Dutchsinse this week.  For the longest time he has been telling us that HAARP is causing atmospheric disruptions resulting in big, bad storms.  Turns out this week, the government has confessed that they are able to do exactly what Dutchinse has been arguing. Now, for the big finale. . . . Grab the popcorn and sit back in your easy chair.  You will definitely want to tune into every minute of this amazing documentary.  It is nearly two hours—but every detail is fascinating.  “Earth from Space” is a documentary by Nova.  The satellite images are extraordinary.  The information transmitted from the satellites orbiting our earth is priceless.  The multitude of imaging instruments on these satellites create images heretofore unavailable to earthbound humans.  Watch this movie.  Invest the two hours.  It is science, and it is definitely worth your time. Click here

Lentils and Rice
A 'One Pan Wonder'
By Teri Simpson of Optimum Preparedness

You buy the wheat, rice, beans and all and properly store it away for when you might need it. But how familiar are you with actually making a meal out of what is in those buckets? I thought I'd take this opportunity to share with you one of my recipes, and the variations on it, that make it one of my favorites.

If you didn't have refrigeration, and had to live off your food storage, do you know how to ensure that you are getting enough protein? Well, a very handy thing is that 1 part bean or legume plus 3-4 parts grain (rice, millet, corn) forms a complete protein. I use rice and lentils because the lentils cook in the same time as the rice. In many parts of the US rice and beans is popular. In Latin countries they primarily eat corn and beans. In parts of Africa it would be millet or sorghum and cowpeas. People have figured out naturally that combining the bean/legume and the grain will keep them alive and healthy even if they don't eat a steak 5 nights a week.

As a vegetarian for many years, I would make rice and lentils because it was EASY – EEEZZZZ!! And it only took one pot (I eventually earned the nickname The One Pot Wonder due to making most meals on only one pan or pot :o)

I'd put 1/3 cup of lentils and 1 cup of brown rice in the pot. (You could also use ¼ cup of lentils and ¾ cup of rice). Since 1 cup of brown rice is usually cooked with 2 cups water, that's what I did with my rice and lentil mix – I added 2 cups of water for the 1 cup of rice, and 2/3 cup of water for the 1/3 cup of lentils.

New Radiation Belt Discovered
NASA's twin Van Allen Probes, launched just last August, have revealed a previously unknown third radiation belt around Earth. Scientists observed the third belt for four weeks before a powerful interplanetary shock wave from the sun annihilated it." "We can offer these new observations to the theorists who model what's going on in the belts," says Kanekal. "Nature presents us with this event – it's there, it's a fact, you can't argue with it -- and now we have to explain why it's the case. Why did the third belt persist for four weeks? Why does it change? All of this information teaches us more about space."

Rock on! Rare 40-pound meteorite found in Antarctica
Meteorite hunters at the bottom of the world bagged a rare find this southern summer: a 40-pound (18 kilogram) chunk of extraterrestrial rock. A team from Belgium and Japan discovered the hefty meteorite as the members drove across the East Antarctic plateau on snowmobiles. Initial tests show it is an ordinary chondrite, the most common type of meteorite found on Earth, Vinciane Debaille, a geologist from Université Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium, said in a statement. "This is the biggest meteorite found in East Antarctica for 25 years," Debaille said. "This is something very exceptional. When you find such a meteorite on Earth, it means that when it was in the sky, it was much larger."

5 Fracking Consequences You’ve Never Heard About
We know fracking isn’t exactly the safest of practices. We’ve heard of its propensity to pollute our air and drinking water and thereby raise human health concerns. The media, however, isn’t talking about the massive sinkholes pockmarking the nation, the radiation leaks, and other lesser known but no less earth-shattering effects of fracking. Here are 5 other consequences of fracking you may not have heard of until now.

1. Methane-Spewing Geysers
Fracking is the act of pumping water and chemicals underground in order to facilitate the flow of oil or gas. It’s not terribly hard for a giant corporation like Shell or Chesapeake Energy Corporation to start fracking wherever the company pleases (check out the next factoid for more on that).

Gold's Regular Morning Mugging
Not everyone is a morning person. And few people like Mondays. But if you're a precious metals investor, mornings – especially Mondays – are brutal.

The Evidence
The precious metals are routinely sold off at or soon after the 8:20am EST morning open of the New York NYMEX exchange. Below are the daily gold price charts (source: Kitco) for each Monday (or Tuesday, if Monday was a holiday) since early this year. The current day's gold price is noted by the bright green line. The morning takedown is highlighted by the orange oval.

Ant and the Grasshopper
Two Different Versions.... Two Different Morals

Old Version
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter, so he dies out in the cold.

Moral of the Story: Be responsible for yourself!

Modern Version
The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving.

CHARTS: World's GMO Crop Fields Could Cover the US 1.5 Times Over
Despite persisting concerns over genetically modified crops, a new industry report shows that GMO farming is taking off around the world. In 2012, GMO crops grew on about 420 million acres of land in 28 countries worldwide, a record high according to the International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications, an industry trade group. If all the world's GMO crop fields in 2012 were sown together, it would blanket almost all of Alaska. As the chart from the report shows, globally GMO farming has been on an uninterrupted upward trend. What's especially noteworthy is the growth of GMO farming area in developing nations (see red line), which surpassed that in industrial nations for the first time in 2012. The ISAAA's report doesn't project into the future, but we may see this upward trend continue as "a considerable quantity and variety" of GMO products may be commercialized in developing countries within the next five years, according to a recent UN Food and Agriculture Organisation forum.

Launching a lawsuit against the very company that is responsible for a farmer suicide every 30 minutes, 5 million farmers are now suing Monsanto for as much as 6.2 billion euros (around 7.7 billion US dollars). The reason? As with many other cases, such as the ones that led certain farming regions to be known as the ‘suicide belt’, Monsanto has been reportedly taxing the farmers to financial shambles with ridiculous royalty charges. The farmers state that Monsanto has been unfairly gathering exorbitant profits each year on a global scale from “renewal” seed harvests, which are crops planted using seed from the previous year’s harvest.

Remedy of the Week
Peaceful Sleep

This week I want to give you a choice. Nature or Pharma? So many people I talk with have trouble sleeping. I don’t think it is just their guilty conscience keeping them awake. It is something more, perhaps stress, perhaps, emotional drama, whatever the cause, they need sleep to cope and survive. The remedy I propose this week is a fragrant essential oils blend by doTERRA called Serenity. I love this oil blend. Its’ fragrance is just the right amount of motherly love and comfort to relax my overactive mind into a state of stillness. Serenity is a blend of Lavender, Sweet Marjoram, Roman Chamomile, Ylang Ylang, Sandalwood and Vanilla Bean Extract. It is so delicious!

Serenity has no side effects. It is pure Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade Essential Oil, Mother Nature at her best.

Something Worth Knowing

Do you know the numbers on bottom of plastic bottles indicate?
When shopping in the supermarket, there are massive products are filled in plastic containers. Check out the store room of your apartment, how many product with plastic bottles are you using? Open your garbage bin, how many plastic bottles do you discard every day? The answer must be “many”, “a lot”, “countless”, “massive”. Right, in our daily life we face plastic bottles time to time. However plastic as the product contains toxic chemicals and un-bio-degradable product, how much do you know? What kind of plastic are they? How these bottles should be used? What kind of harm are they going to bring to us? I recently came across another chain mail, about the numbers below plastic bottles we use. I think the answer would be “Grrr”, “not that much”, “not sure”, “I don’t know”.
