Editors Corner

Good Day, my friends, around the world.  How are you liking 2013 so far?  After a couple of weeks of celebrating that fact that we made it to this glorious milestone, I am left with the question of how will I choose to live in this new era?  What do I really want my life to be about?  How can I best use my life to make a difference in the world?  What intentions will I throw upstream for my new future?  This is truly an exciting time to be alive.  I am glad we are all in this together.

I think you will truly be inspired by this week’s newsletter.  Our feature story is truly fascinating. If you love studying the brain and how it works, you will love this story.  We thank for allowing us to share it with you.  I recommend you read every word and watch the videos. Tiffany Shlain is using the internet and technology to connect and collaborate with individuals world-wide to tell the story of human connectedness. She explores the similarity of the development of the internet to that of a child’s brain. Truly fascinating!  “The best invention in the world is a child’s mind,” Thomas Edison. Click here

EarthWatch is always an important part of newsletter.  Changes happening to our earth are so multi-faceted it is a challenge to stay abreast of every area of concern.  I was struck by the following statement that appears in one of our earth articles.  It stopped me in my tracks when instead of the worn phrase “global warming” or “climate change” it described the multitude of threats to “earth’s life support systems.”
Read EarthWatch through the lens of this phrase and see if every single story escalates to another level of urgency. Click here

We have learned a lot about the powerful medicine in essential oils from Anita Marriott in our Remedy of the Week articles, but this week we find Oregano Essential Oils making news on the farm.  In an effort to raise healthier chickens and eliminate antibiotics, one chicken producer is serving his chickens Oregano Oil. Click here

I would like to take this opportunity to remind all of our readers that this newsletter comes to you through the efforts and support of many people. This week I want to thank our loyal advertisers and ask our readers to patronize their businesses.  If you haven’t read the ads lately, take a good look at them this week. Pick out a business you can do business with, and when you are there, tell them thank you for supporting our community and MastersConnection2020.

Next week I will be on the road, so we will see you again in two weeks. We will leave you with words from “The Warrior’s Prayer”.   “In peace I understand myself and the world”.

Using Mindfulness to Shape Our Global Brain
Interview with Tiffany Shlain
Reprinted with permission from

One of the core concepts behind SuperConsciousness is that we are inextricably connected with everything around us. Over the years, we have written articles and interviews that attempt to show how our thoughts and actions affect our body and the environment. Becoming aware of this and acting accordingly is a big part of what being super conscious is all about. That is why when I saw a trailer to a movie called, Connected: An Autobiography about Love, Death and Technology, on Facebook, I was very excited and eager not only to watch it but to talk to the people behind the project. My attempts to contact the filmmaker took longer than I had expected and by the time I was able to set up an interview to talk about the movie, its creator, Tiffany Shlain, was already onto a new and fascinating project of Cloud Filmmaking called, Let It Ripple: Mobile Films for Global Change. It was described as “a new short film series that leverages the creativity of individuals and organizations from across the globe.” Each of these films invites participants to send in videos from their cell phones and after the film is completed her team makes free customized versions for non-profits all over the world.

At the time I spoke with Tiffany, she was getting ready to release the third short film in the series, Brain Power: From Neuron to Networks. This interview concentrates mostly on the content within this film and its accompanying TED Book which explores the analogy between the internet and the human brain, particularly the developing brain of a child from 0 to 5 years old, which is the time when most of our neuronal connections are made and pruned to define our personality. It is also an important call to take agency in the development of the internet and its accompanying technologies which are rewiring our brains and to use our mindfulness to help develop and define the future of our global brain.

Tiffany Shlain is a filmmaker, artist, founder of the Webby Awards, and co-founder of The International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences. She was honored by Newsweek as one of the “Women Shaping the 21st Century.” She is a Henry Crown Fellow of The Aspen Institute, and member of the advisory board for M.I.T.’s Geospatial Lab, The Institute for the Future, and she was invited to advise Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton on the internet and technology. Her films and work have received 50 awards and distinctions including a “Disruptive Innovation Award” from the 2012 Tribeca Film Festival. Her last four films premiered at Sundance, including Connected, which the US State Department just selected as one of the films to represent America at embassies around the world for their 2012 American Film Showcase.

Amazing Picture of a Black Iceberg
This iceberg stands in sharp contrast to another whitish iceberg in the photo which seems to have been taken during the day. Most icebergs are white except along freshly calved ice cliffs, which tend to appear blue. “Others may appear green, brown or black, or combinations of these colours,” it says. “The various colorations are caused by differences in density, air-bubble content and impurities,” the encyclopedia explains. “For example, black ice is of high density and bubble free; dark layers indicate the presence of rock materials derived from the base of the parent glacier. Occasionally, rocks may be found on the original upper surface of the iceberg. As the iceberg melts, these materials precipitate into marine or lake sediments.”

Global Weather Modification Assault Causing Climate Chaos And Environmental Catastrophe
What Major Factor Causing “Climate Change” Are They Not Telling Us About?
More alarming articles and studies are surfacing each day which confirm the rapidly changing state of Earth’s life support systems and climate. Humanity has decimated the planet and the chickens are coming home to roost. Though there are certainly many parts to this unfolding story, the largest piece of the puzzle by far still goes completely unacknowledged by most of the scientific community and all of the main stream media/corporate/military/industrial complex. The massive elephant in the room has been, and still is, “stratospheric aerosol geoengineering” or “SAG”, AKA “chemtrails”.

Heat, Flood or Icy Cold, Extreme Weather Rages Worldwide
WORCESTER, England — Britons may remember 2012 as the year the weather spun off its rails in a chaotic concoction of drought, deluge and flooding, but the unpredictability of it all turns out to have been all too predictable: Around the world, extreme has become the new commonplace. Especially lately. China is enduring its coldest winter in nearly 30 years. Brazil is in the grip of a dreadful heat spell. Eastern Russia is so freezing — minus 50 degrees Fahrenheit, and counting — that the traffic lights recently stopped working in the city of Yakutsk.

In Hopes of Healthier Chickens, Farms Turn to Oregano
The smell of oregano wafting from Scott Sechler’s office is so strong that anyone visiting Bell & Evans these days could be forgiven for wondering whether Mr. Sechler has forsaken the production of chicken and gone into pizza. Oregano lies loose in trays and tied into bunches on tabletops and counters, and a big, blue drum that held oregano oil stands in the corner. “Have you ever tried oregano tea?” Mr. Sechler asked, mashing leaves between his broad fingers. Off and on over the last three years or so, his chickens have been eating a specially milled diet laced with oregano oil and a touch of cinnamon. Mr. Sechler swears by the concoction as a way to fight off bacterial diseases that plague meat and poultry producers without resorting to antibiotics, which some experts say can be detrimental to the humans who eat the meat.

Archaeologists Reveal Secrets Of "Fairy City Of Pink Sandstone"
Petra - was a "fairy city of pink sandstone", mysterious, legendary and long forgotten. More than 3,000 temples, tombs and thousands of caves carved out of sandstone rocks, all was lost to the western world, and erased from our memory for over a thousand years. Ancient city of Petra was built in the harsh desert of southern Jordan and situated in Mt. Seir, about 80 kilometers south of the Dead Sea and 2,775 feet above sea-leve. It lwas first inhabited by a Semitic-speaking tribe of the Edomites, mentioned in the Bible as descendants of Esau, the father of the Edomites in the hill country of Seir. From the first century B.C. to the third century A.D., Petra was one of the most influential and prosperous commercial centres in antiquity. History has long been very silent in regard to the life, art and religion of the Edomites, but slowly, archaeologists begin to unveil Petra's oldest secrets.

Welcome Back 008Students Return to New Round of Workshops

Everyone was back on campus this morning, just in time for an all school assembly that began with candle focus and ended with a chance for K – 6th students to pick two new Friday workshops. This sessions’ offerings include Comic Book Making, Outdoor Building, Acrogym and Outer Space Sculptures in the morning and Art, Chess, Soccer and Crochet in the afternoon. “Can I make an alien?” one student asked, and was assured by Mr. Space Sculpture himself, Neil Kaber, that indeed he could. Workshops give students a chance to practice autonomy and gain exposure to subjects that fall outside of the core curriculum. View More Photos Here
