What is Love?
The Path from Romance to Brotherly and Sacred Love
Reprinted with permission from

What about love, that mystery which allows us to embrace ourselves, our partners, our families, our world? Often its experience defies description, thus Rumi’s “cage of words,” from which love has escaped. Most of what has been written which speaks to its virtue has come from poets, mystics, and troubadours. And always blooming like a flower from the seeds of our passion, the expression of this universal experience has many colors and shades.

Sex and Romantic Love — A Personal Connection

As children we love easily, but as our hormones awaken during adolescence, love transforms into a chemically fueled, blinding force. This tumultuous storm consumes our innocence as the identity of the child gives way to an expanded sense of self through the ungainly, uncomfortable consummation of romantic love. As we make our way through the labyrinth of sexuality and romance, we become the unwitting participants of a universal Shakespearean drama; the emotional highs and lows of anticipation, adoration, and rejection.

The sciences of neurology and endocrinology have clearly revealed that “being in love” puts us under the influence of a host of brain chemicals that can actually become quite addictive. Biological anthropologist Helen Fisher has done extensive fMRI studies involving three sets of individuals: those who have recently fallen madly in love, those who have been married for an average of twenty-one years and still report being in love, and those who have recently been rejected. Based on her research, identifying areas of the brain that are activated in these states, Fisher reports that “romantic love is a need, an addiction,” and that it displays all the classic telltale signs of addiction: tolerance, withdrawal, and relapse. Whether or not love is requited, just the thought, let alone the sight of the object of our desire, can bring on a wildly beating heart, sweaty palms, dilated pupils, and an inability to think or articulate clearly. These are only some of the physiological effects of a cascading river of neurotransmitters (phenylethylamine, dopamine, oxytocin, norepinephrine, and adrenaline). They originate in the brain and flow throughout the body, and can bring on amphetaminetype responses (let’s stay up all night and talk!) and/or relaxation responses (let’s just stare at each other, cuddle, and fall asleep in each other’s arms).

Officials released new evacuation plans in case of new eruption at Mt. Fuji volcano in Japan
An increased number of small earthquakes near and under Japan’s highest and most noted volcano, Mt. Fuji (within 30 km radius), concern government and local officials. In the worst case scenario, a new eruption of Mount Fuji could force some 567,000 people to evacuate their homes. A new evacuation plan by The Shizuoka Prefectural Government assumes that more than 130,000 people from approx. 50,000 households would have to relocate if “lava” were to reach residential districts in the city of Fuji located just south of the 3,776-meter mountain. The plan is based on a hazard map prepared by the central government based on Fuji’s last eruption from Hoei crater, in 1707.

This is on of the the rarest of all naturally occurring atmospheric phenomena. The picture was captured on the Idaho / Washington border. The event lasted about 1 hour. Clouds have to be cirrus, at least 20k feet in the air, with just the right amount of ice crystals and the sun has to hit the clouds at precisely 58 degrees.

Scientists coax bacteria to produce pure gold nuggets
Researchers have discovered bacteria with a Midas touch, capable of transforming toxic chemicals into pure 24-karat gold.
Money may still not grow on trees, but scientists from Michigan State University have discovered the next closest thing: bacteria that can transform toxic chemicals into pure, 24-karat gold, according to MSU News.   The bacterium with the Midas touch, Cupriavidus metallidurans, was coaxed into producing real gold nuggets simply by exposing it to copious amounts of gold chloride, a toxic liquid substance with no actual value but which is found naturally in the environment. The bacterium gobbles up the gold chloride, ingesting all of the liquid's toxins and waste, and leaves behind only solid gold. It just goes to show that one bacterium's waste is another organism's treasure.

Judge Napolitano on Houston Proposal to Track Gold Sellers: ‘What Is It About Guns and Gold…?’
A proposed local ordinance in Houston would require gold buyers or jewelry stores to photograph and fingerprint anyone who comes in to sell gold or other precious metals. Police say the proposed law is aimed at deterring thefts of gold and silver, and making it harder for thieves to cash in stolen precious metals.

Horsemeat scandal: Don't dump meat, says food minister
People should not throw away frozen meat products in the wake of further revelations in the horsemeat scandal, the food minister has said.
David Heath advised consumers to carry on eating meat unless told otherwise. The Food Standards Agency has asked UK firms to test all processed beef foods, but said it did not "suspect there is any health issue with frozen food". Environment Secretary Owen Paterson is to hold a summit with heads of meat retailers and suppliers on Saturday. Food Minister Mr Heath said the government's advice was "exactly that" of the FSA's. "The FSA says there is no reason to suppose there is a health risk and therefore the advice is to carry on with normal shopping habits until you are told otherwise," he told the BBC. But shadow environment secretary Mary Creagh has expressed fears that other contaminated foods may be found.

Tank at Hanford nuclear site leaking radioactive liquids, Washington governor says
A tank that holds radioactive liquids is leaking at the nation's most contaminated nuclear site, Wash. Gov. Jay Inslee said Friday, raising concerns about the integrity of other storage facilities at the Hanford Nuclear Reservation. The U.S. Department of Energy said liquid levels are decreasing in one of 177 underground tanks at the nuclear reservation. Monitoring wells near the tank have not detected higher radiation levels, the agency said. Inslee said the leak could be in the range of 150 gallons to 300 gallons over the course of a year. "I am alarmed about this on many levels," Inslee said at a Friday afternoon news conference. "This raises concerns, not only about the existing leak ... but also concerning the integrity of the other single shell tanks of this age." The tanks hold millions of gallons of a highly radioactive stew left from decades of plutonium production for nuclear weapons.

Your Way to Lottery Winnings

What if you could enhance your remote viewing ability while increasing your chances of winning the lottery and it took only a few minutes out of every day? That’s the premise behind the re-tooled website, which has just added enhanced features that allow groups to collectively remote view lottery results – and share the winnings. “What excites me the most is that it can really be a paradigm-shifting project,” says original founder Guustaaf Damave, who created the site in 2007 as a way for people to hone their skills.  “A lot of people brush off remote viewing, and probably wouldn’t be swayed much by statistics. But when it comes to money, they are going to sit up and pay attention.”

Remedy of the Week
Attitude of Gratitude

I am so happy to be alive and well in 2013! A dear friend gave me a book for my birthday about the magic of gratitude. It reminded me that what I focus on expands. Then tonight I was thumbing through one of my essential oil books by Dr. Susan Lawton and Rebecca Hintze and found an oil protocol to promote gratitude and joy. These days I am grateful for the blessing from nature of the essential oils. This is just one more way they support my growing self-awareness and control of my common thought.

A new part of The Triad Theater

Hey Everybody! Thanks for all your support last year..and as this new year starts whizzing by, i would like to share our vision for this year and beyond... The Triad Theater is a black box theater that uses imagination to help create the eclectic shows we provide on our stage. But we like to get out of the box too!  We have come to realize that in some ways we are limited in offering you certain entertainment or educational experiences due to the size and restrictions of the facility. We will do this by using the world as our stage. So we are going to present travel tours to all sorts of places in the world that encourage you to see things from a new perspective. We want to go to  spectacular geological and archeological sights, romantic cities, unchartered adventures,  and sacred mystic tours for our settings.

Is Death A Dream Or Illusion?
Have you ever wondered what happens after death? If so, you are certainly not alone. Ever since the beginning of time people all over the world have speculated if death is the end or perhaps the beginning of something new. Another possibility is that death might not be real after all. Some scientists have suggested that death could in fact be just an illusion. There are many scientific experiments that seriously question the term death, as we know it. According to quantum physics certain observations cannot be predicted absolutely. Instead, there is a range of possible observations each with a different probability. The "many-worlds" interpretation, states that each of these possible observations corresponds to a different universe, what is generally called the "multiverse".

Lab rats 'acquire sixth sense'
US researchers have effectively given laboratory rats a "sixth sense" using an implant in their brains.
An experimental device allowed the rats to "touch" infrared light - which is normally invisible to them. The team at Duke University fitted the rats with an infrared detector wired up to microscopic electrodes that were implanted in the part of their brains that processes tactile information. The results of the study were published in Nature Communications journal. The researchers say that, in theory at least, a human with a damaged visual cortex might be able to regain sight through a device implanted in another part of the brain. Lead author Miguel Nicolelis said this was the first time a brain-machine interface has augmented a sense in adult animals. The experiment also shows that a new sensory input can be interpreted by a region of the brain that normally does something else (without having to "hijack" the function of that brain region).

How to Live Forever? Be a Jellyfish

Michio Kaku: The Theory of Everything

Will we ever… simulate the human brain?
A billion dollar project claims it will recreate the most complex organ in the human body in just 10 years. But detractors say it is impossible. Who is right?
For years, Henry Markram has claimed that he can simulate the human brain in a computer within a decade. On 23 January 2013, the European Commission told him to prove it. His ambitious Human Brain Project (HBP) won one of two ceiling-shattering grants from the EC to the tune of a billion euros, ending a two-year contest against several other grandiose projects. Can he now deliver? Is it even possible to build a computer simulation of the most powerful computer in the world – the 1.4-kg (3 lb) cluster of 86 billion neurons that sits inside our skulls? The very idea has many neuroscientists in an uproar, and the HBP’s substantial budget, awarded at a tumultuous time for research funding, is not helping. The common refrain is that the brain is just too complicated to simulate, and our understanding of it is at too primordial a stage.

Olive Oil Shown to Drastically Reduce Heart Disease Risk
Boost your olive oil consumption and live longer! Sounds simple, right? It’s not. While olive oil can have amazing benefits to the cardiovascular system, research shows that it’s not entirely simple. How you eat your olive oil, where your oil comes from, and even where you store it can impact its benefits. So, pay close attention to these benefits and how to make the most of them. In 2003, a study published in the Journal of the National Medical Association indicated a diet rich in fish, olive oil, and plants decreased inflammation and heart disease. In 2009, a study in the Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology showed that when paired with a Mediterranean diet, the consumption of olive oil lowered the risk of cardiovascular disease. That same year, another study was published in the World Journal of Gastroenterology affirming that a Mediterranean diet rich in olive oil could reduce heart disease, lower fats in the liver, improve insulin levels, and regulate blood sugar.

Phoenix Rising School

“I am 1,000 percent behind this school.” - Ramtha

CIMG1338Jumpstarting the School Garden

Imagine for a moment that fall has arrived. Everywhere at Phoenix Rising, students are harvesting fruit and vegetables, saving seeds, bringing produce to the Farmers  Market – and learning about marketing and finance along the way. That is Carol Shimono’s vision for the school garden, and it got a giant boost last weekend when a small group of volunteers spent the day weed whacking, weeding and spreading manure on multiple garden beds. “Unless you have a big plan, you’re not going to pull this off very well,” says Carol. “We want children to have a successful experience with the garden. This work party came about in order to make that happen.” Students have already begun participating; on Friday the 5th and 6th graders spent the afternoon pulling out the irrigation and prepping the area for Saturday’s work. This week, Early Explorers and Pre-K created a molasses mixture to help the soil by accelerating microbes to digest compost.
