Editors Corner

I hope this newsletter finds you well on these warm summer days.

This week in TED Talks we have a playlist of 12 videos collectively called The Big Picture.  The talks range from Who Controls the World? (financially speaking) to Will Our Kids be a Different Species?  Click here  Interesting and worth watching.

In Science Watch, scientists have recently been focused on a subject that they have largely avoided for a long time, the "Extraordinary Powers Of The Mind".  Click here.  Maybe we will see some new and interesting technologies come from this research in the near future.

On The Lighter Side we have "The Store Wars".  An amusing Star Wars parody of GMO and chemical ladened foods verses "Organic".  Click here

We also have a few events in the Community Calendar like Salida pouring wine at Mt. Lodge Farm today (Saturday August 10th) from 12pm to 2pm.  Click here

And there are lots of events listed in the Triad Theater Calendar of Events too including the showings of Girl Rising, the documentary recommended by JZ.  Click here

If there is not enough in this edition, there is always a new article posted daily on our website.  Click here

Until next week, stay cool.

Scientists Focus On Extraordinary Powers Of The Mind
Many people find the powers of the mind to be a fascinating subject. Is telepathy possible? How can we explain cases involving signs of clairvoyance? Does the future affect the past? Many mainstream scientists have been skeptical and deliberately treated these questions with great caution. The Parapsychological Association (PA), will be holding its 56th annual convention on August 8-11, 2013 at the Ora Domus La Quercia in Viterbo, Italy. Leading scientists and other academics from around the world will gather to present the latest research into psi and related phenomena, such as extra-sensory perception, psychokinesis, psychic healing, altered states of consciousness, mediumship and possible survival of bodily death. In their paper scientists discuss several very interesting topics such as spontaneous anomalous experiences, telepathy, automatic writing, precognition, clairvoyance and other Psi-related subjects.
