Editors Corner

Harvest is happening and the pressure canners are whistling a happy tune.  A friend told me the other day she had been busy canning beans.  She was exhausted and exclaimed, “I think 88 quarts of beans is enough!”  “Wow,” I thought to myself, “from seed to pantry she is co-creating with nature to care for herself and her family.”  It is a beautiful thing to know your food is safe and pure.

Speaking of safe and pure food, I would like to draw your attention to an item in the Community Calendar.  It is a lecture by Sandra Lee, educator for the Institute of Responsible Technology, warning about the dangers of Genetically Modified Food, (GMO). Click here Those who have heard Ms. Lee speak before say she is a wealth of information and has an empowering way of delivering this important message.

The Night of the Initiate
Submitted by MC2020 reader Delores Crowell, Yelm WA

It was very cold that eventful night in early February. I learned later the temperature had dipped to 36 degrees, just above freezing.
I have a studio apart from my small home where I have a computer and some art work I do. I press flowers then form them into designs. I call it play at its finest.

It was mid afternoon when I took a bottle of wine, not full, with me to the studio. I never do this as wine and pressed flowers do not mix. Computers and wine are not compatible.

I learned later I had finished the bottle sometime that afternoon, evening. I should have known something was up, that something was about to happen. I never really remember drinking the wine but then again, this was more than a year ago. When I again became conscious, I was outside and it was totally dark. I was sitting upright in some sort of pit. Branches, some very large, surrounded me forming what I perceived as a sort of cage. I was very cold and shivered constantly. I was wearing sweatpants, a turtle neck blouse and a sweater. Socks were on my feet but no shoes. I remember thinking that morning to put on some sturdy shoes but had chosen instead to slip into my garden shoes.. I had chosen the easy way.

The Puerto Rico Trench Tsunami Threat
by Zen Gardner
I’ve written about this little known Puerto Rico trench before, but it’s worth repeating. Especially now, because the quakes in the trench zone are getting not just more frequent, but stronger. It was startling to find out just how massive and deep this fault line trench is. The consequences of a substantial subterranean landslide and resultant tsunami on the entire heavily populated low-lying island region of the Caribbean is almost unfathomable. And there’s hardly any talk about that lurking danger. Of course not. In case you haven’t noticed, the “authorities” don’t seem to want us to be aware of how tentative things are and the imminent dangers we face. Whether it’s earthquake activity, radiation releases, or geoengineering insanity wrecking the planet, we’re supposed to just trudge along with our heads down and not notice.

DNA of girl from Denisova cave gives up genetic secrets
The DNA of a cave girl who lived about 80,000 years ago has been analysed in remarkable detail. The picture of her genome is as accurate as that of modern day human genomes, and shows she had brown eyes, hair and skin. The research in Science also sheds new light on the genetic differences between modern humans and their closest extinct relatives. The cave dweller, a Denisovan, was a cousin of the Neanderthals. Both groups of ancient humans died out about 30,000 years ago, but have left their mark in the gene pool of modern people.

Archaeologists Unearth More Sumerian Secrets That Offer Clues To Our Past
Archaeologists excavating in Iraq have unearth more ancient Sumerian items that could offer clues to our past. "Priceless information about mankind's past lies concealed beneath Iraq's landscape, especially in the 'tells' - earth mounds - that are the remains of ancient towns, villages and farmsteads," says Dr. Robert Killick who is part of a British archaeological expediting that is excavating in Iraq. The National reports that "Dr Robert Killick, was part of the British archaeological expedition excavating a 2300BC Bronze Age grave believed to belong to a chieftain." "We found the skeletons of two donkeys or onagers, but no sign of a human skeleton," recalled Dr Killick. "At first, we joked that this royal chamber was made for the donkeys, but that couldn't be possible, could it?"

Ants Have Their Own Internet - The "Anternet"
No, this is not a joke. Ants do have their own internet and scientist call it the "Anternet". Ants have on several occasions proved that they are truly remarkable creatures. We have previously seen how scientists discovered an amazing underground city created by ants. Researchers were also shocked when they discovered that ants can even turn into zombies. The strange world of the ants is much more complex than we think. These incredible little creatures just keep surprising us. A recent discovery shows ants are using a very special algorithm and their own internet.

Phoenix Rising School

“I am 1,000 percent behind this school.” - Ramtha

Phoenix Rising Staff Gets Hands-on Training

It was a Tuesday afternoon, and the Phoenix Rising staff was covered with dirt. Some wore pants with dusty knees; others unknowingly sported streaks of soil on their cheeks, and some had grimy elbows. None of this was very surprising, as they had just spent the last several hours crawling along a narrow board several inches off the ground while being simultaneously propelled forward and hauled along by their colleagues.

This may sound like the latest episode of Survivor: Yelm, but it was actually a challenge course at the Cispus Learning Center that the team did as part of their August staff development. “The course challenged us as a team to listen, hear and act as one group who really cared about each other,” says middle school facilitator Sophie Sykes. “We supported each other and had so much fun.”
