Are You Speaking about Science Fiction or Science Fact?
Interview with Marie D. Jones, Co-Author of This Book Is from the Future
Reprinted with permission from SuperConsciousness.com

We live in exciting times of great discoveries in all areas of science. The last ten years have been revolutionary in significant areas of medicine, genetics, neuroscience, as well as physics, alternative sources of energy, astrophysics and the world of the very tiny, quantum physics. Some of these discoveries, with the help of equally astonishing advances in technology, computers, robotics and exotic synthetic materials, are bringing us ever closer to what used to exist only in science fiction novels and movies. Our favorite science fiction writers of yesterday have become, without them realizing it, prophets of things to come in our era. They have become visionaries of real scientific facts and discoveries of today, technologically viable inventions that are changing our lifestyles, our understanding of the universe and our place in it. The imagination of previous generations probably never fathomed that the scientists of today would be conducting teleportation experiments in a laboratory — and succeeding in doing so! Little did they know that we would be sending probes to study the sun at close proximity, land on Mars and discover that there are signs of water there on the rocks and landscape. Who could have thought then that international governments would develop remote-viewing programs as reliable strategies in intelligence gathering? Even us today would find it outstanding that physicists are even discussing the real possibility of building a time machine and considering it only an engineering problem, not a scientifically unsound impossibility. We truly live today in the science fiction novels of yesterday!

SuperConsciousness had the opportunity to speak with author and explorer, Marie D. Jones, co-author of This Book Is from the Future and, previously, 11:11, The Time Prompt Phenomenon. She guides us through her research on time travel from the scientific experiments and theories that support it to the paranormal, including altered states of consciousness, conspiracies and UFO phenomena that often are connected to the concept of time travel and time slips, just as the plot of any good sci-fi best-selling novel would have it! Do not miss this interesting exclusive interview. Who knows, maybe we are already living in the future and have not even realized it yet!

Google fractals reveal Earth's beauty, as collated by WA supercomputer scientist
A PROFESSOR from Perth has employed Google Earth to collect an awe-inspiring series of satellite photos showing fractal patterns around the world.

Two years ago, research professor Paul Bourke began searching Google’s powerful mapping program for images to add to his embryonic Google Earth Fractals web page. "I was looking for some examples where fractals occur in nature," recalls Bourke. "I had examples of trees and branching, clouds and meteorology, then I went looking in Google Earth."

Britain has alien-war weapons, says former government adviser
In an interview with MSN, Nick Pope, who worked for the Ministry of Defence for 21 years, said that while Britain doesn't have a war plan, it certainly had sophisticated enough weaponry to defend itself. Mr Pope, whose job it was to advise on the threat posed by other life forms, said that in the event of an attack he expected that we would "quickly adapt our plans for other more current war scenarios." At present, he said, there was no special organisation like Torchwood, the alien-hunting team from the BBC science fiction series of the same name, but he said he was sure that in the event of attack an operation could be set up quickly and efficiently. World nations would probably pool their technology together like in films such as Independence Day.

'We won’t advise the state again': Scientists outraged at Italian seismologists' jailing
The head of Italy’s disaster evaluation body has quit in protest against the conviction of seven of his colleagues for failing to warn people of a deadly earthquake in 2009. Scientists all over the world have expressed outrage at the verdict. Luciano Maiani, the former director of CERN, and the head of the Serious Risks Commission, tendered his resignation alongside his deputy and other senior officials. "The situation created by yesterday's sentence… is incompatible with running the commission's work in a calm and efficient manner and with its role of giving high level advice to the organs of the state," said Maiani’s statement, which was posted on the agency's official website.

Fukushima fish still radioactive
Many have cesium levels that are just as high as they were after disaster
More than a year and a half after an earthquake and tsunami destroyed the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant in Japan, many fish in the area contain levels of radioactive cesium that are just as high as they were soon after the disaster. The finding suggests that the region's coastal-dwelling fish are still being exposed to new sources of cesium, possibly from the seafloor or from contaminated groundwater that's flowing into the ocean. And even though most fish sampled in the new study had levels of cesium below safe limits for consumption, some fish contained surprisingly large amounts.

NASA's NuSTAR Spots Flare From Milky Way's Black Hole

NASA's newest set of X-ray eyes in the sky, the Nuclear Spectroscopic Telescope Array (NuSTAR), has caught its first look at the giant black hole parked at the center of our galaxy. The observations show the typically mild-mannered black hole during the middle of a flare-up. "We got lucky to have captured an outburst from the black hole during our observing campaign," said Fiona Harrison, the mission's principal investigator at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) in Pasadena. "These data will help us better understand the gentle giant at the heart of our galaxy and why it sometimes flares up for a few hours and then returns to slumber."

The bleeding edge of self-healing skin-like materials
Materials that take their inspiration from how skin repairs itself could one-day be used to build self -healing planes or buildings.
Break a toe and your body will slowly fuse the bones back together; scrape your knee and your skin will eventually heal itself.  The same, however, cannot be said for the man-made materials that we use to build bridges, aircraft and skyscrapers. Once snapped, cracked or bent, materials such as plastic, steel, and concrete are difficult – or impossible – to repair. But that could soon change. Material scientists are now actively borrowing nature's capacity for regeneration and repair in an attempt to create materials that heal themselves.

Wieliczka Salt Mine

Deep underground in Poland lies something remarkable, but little known outside Eastern Europe.
For centuries, miners have extracted salt there, but left behind things quite startling and unique. Take a look at the most unusual salt mine in the world. From the outside, Wieliczka Salt Mine doesn’t look extraordinary. It looks extremely well kept for a place that hasn’t minded any  salt for over ten years but apart from that it looks ordinary. However, over two hundred meters below ground it holds an astonishing secret. This is the salt mine that became an art gallery, cathedral and underground lake.

HAWAII VOLCANO'S LAVA LAKE THREATENS TO OVERFLOW
The lava lake inside Halema'uma'u crater, at the top of Mount Kilauea in Hawaii, is closer than ever to spilling out over the crater floor.
The lava lake inside Halema'uma'u crater, at the top of Mount Kilauea in Hawaii, is closer than ever to reaching the crater floor and spilling out on it, the U.S. Geological Survey said. PHOTOS: Up Close With a Restless Hawaiian Volcano The summit lava lake is deep within a cylindrical vent with nearly vertical sides. In the past two weeks, the lake level surged about 50 feet (15 meters) and now has only 110 feet (33 m) to go until the lava reaches the top of the vent and floods the crater floor, the USGS said today (Oct. 23). "It could continue to rise and overflow," said Matt Patrick, a research scientist at the Hawaii Volcano Observatory.
