Editors Corner

Happy Day to everyone, wherever you are in the world! I love knowing that this humble little publication reaches into the largest cities of the world as well as the far reaches of rural retreats.  I have spoken to readers who live off the grid, but are happy to fire up their generators just to read Masters Connection2020 newsletter.  This week’s menu features our “princess of practical”, Teri Simpson with a wonderful article about canning.  What is so wonderful is the smart new, non-fragile, space-saving container for home canning.  If you have never canned before, even better, this is a great way to start.

The art and skill of canning your home grown food is even more important as you consider the unappetizing information that human genes are being are being engineered into GMO rice in Kansas. Click here I really lost my appetite when I read about the FDA allowing “old” food to be reconditioned—you won’t believe it. Click here   The Generous Garden video is inspiring to me because one man’s actions have inspired a whole community.  He wanted to give back to his community.  He is giving the gift of what he learned growing up on a farm, gardening. Click here

Our friend, Bruce Smith, from the Mountain News, gives us a minute-by-minute account of his recent heart attack.  He shared it to help us identify heart attack symptoms and encourage us to seek medical help ASAP.  Important information. Click here

Have you finished cleaning up the storm debris from this winter?  One of our readers shares his perspective and asks—blessing or curse? Click here  Last week we brought you a story about a young Japanese man whose soccer ball was found on the shores of Alaska and was returned to him.  This week we are sharing the not so nice aspect of all of that debris piling up on the beaches of the west coast of the US and Canada.  It is a mess of epic proportion! Click here

There are two stories this week that I would call incredible!  First, a little six year old autistic boy who can play the piano by ear.  Amazing and cute. Click here  Next, security cameras in a shopping mall capture something quite amazing.  You decide.  Is it an alien? Is it an angel? Let us know what you think? Click here

Every week in the newsletter we bring you real estate advertisements with homes and land for sale. When you are ready to make your move, check our real estate ads first and I recommend you contact one of our advertising agents as well. They know the special needs of masters on the move.

Be sure to read about the lovely student who found her first card in the 'field' behind her home.  Kathy lives in Kansas City and has never been to the RSE campus here in Yelm.  She did the home study course in January 2011, and streamed an Assay.  It was after streaming the World Events Update last weekend that she understood the discipline of the field.  Read her story, it is inspiring.  It’s about the journey! Click here

Finally, I want to recommend you watch the video entitled Divided Brain.  I could watch it over and over. There is so much important, empowering information contained in this short piece.  It is cleverly done to simplify the amazing complexity of our brain.  Click here

Here's wishing you soft beautiful skies overhead and moments this week to enjoy it.  Stay safe and happy until we meet again in your inbox.

Canning in Retort Pouches
By Teri Simpson of Optimum Preparedness

(Do You Think You SHOULD Can?)
Just WAIT Til You See THIS!!!

Boy, have I got a cool thing to share with you today! You know how MRE’s (from the military, meaning Meals, Ready to Eat) come in flexible packaging?

The pouch they use was invented by the United States, Reynolds Metals and Continental Flexible Packaging 1978. These pouches are extensively used by the U.S. military for field rations (called Meal, Ready-to-Eat, or MREs).

These pouches are constructed from a flexible metal-plastic laminate which is able to withstand high heat processing used for sterilization, and are called retort pouches. The food is first prepared (sometimes even raw or semi cooked) and then sealed into the retort pouch. The pouch is then heated for several minutes under high heat and high pressure inside retort or autoclave machines. The food inside is cooked, similar to pressure cooking. This process reliably kills all commonly occurring microorganisms (particularly Clostridium botulinum), preventing it from spoiling.

Recently several American food distributors have begun manufacturing foods in retort pouches without cartons, notably tuna canning companies Star-Kist, Chicken of the Sea, and Bumble Bee.

The packaging process these companies use is very similar to canning, except that the package itself is flexible. The lamination structure doesn't allow permeation of gases from outside into the pouch.

Well, you can now get 1 Quart Retort Pouches with gusseted bottoms so they stand upright for easy filling from Optimum Preparedness! You can CAN stew, rice and chicken, Aunt Sallie's Goulash or spaghetti sauce in these flexible, non-breakable pouches! HOW COOL IS THAT???

Winter Gardening Guide
Gardening in Unpredictable Weather
By Suzanne Wood

Gardeners have always needed to be a flexible lot. With the change in our climates, we are required to be more flexible and ingenious. We highly recommend the use of cold frames to extend the seasons and amount of food you are able to supply your family year round. We like the use of cold frames because they are easy to build yourself, affordable and portable if you are renting or moving and take up little space in a small yard.

Storm Debris
May Be A Blessing!
Submitted by an MC2020 reader

Today I am out cleaning up storm debris - happy to find the larger limbs candidates for my wood heat stove but more than a little irritated at the huge suppy of smaller limbs that were either going to have to be burned or muscled into debris piles.

And then - I did what I was not supposed to do - visited my past - a childhood uselessly condemned to reducing log sized fire wood into stove wood as my grandmother called it. Stove wood consisted of a variety of wood ranging in demension of one to two inches in diameter and anything in between.

Stove wood was used to fuel the wood burning cook stove that my grandmother cooked on - temperature was regulated by the size and amount of stove wood. So short hot fires were fueled by stove wood. Baking could be accomplished with larger sizes of fire wood regulated as necessary with the addition of stove wood to increase the temperature.

So mother nature may have been doing us a favor particularly those of us who have wood burning stoves that may need fuel in the future.

Where and how to see the eclipse
Eclipse-chasers have been known to plan their expeditions months or even years in advance, but if you can get to the western United States, there's still plenty of time to plan your party for this month's solar eclipse. If the skies are clear, all you have to do is look up — with the proper eye protection, of course.
The May 20 event won't be quite as spectacular as a total solar eclipse, but if you can make it to a 200-mile-wide strip of territory that extends from the Oregon-California coast to northwestern Texas, you just might see a rare "Ring of Fire" eclipse near sunset. And that zone of annularity runs through some of the most picturesque parts of the country, including the Grand Canyon and 32 other national parks.

Runners & Mirrors

I have to share this with someone, and it did not seem appropriate to do so with the websupport...
Today I manifested my FIRST CARD!!! I AM sooo excited!!! I did the C & E session after Ramtha, and then went back out to the field...
I attached 3 pictures to show the little "field" I have at home...the actual card focused upon and my husband took the one with me just after getting it.
I AM very appreciative to have Ramtha/JZ and You(The School) to learn and share this with...Love Kathy
WOW!!!!!!! Now I can better understand what has been talked about in all these teachings...

They grow food and give it away - no questions asked.
In Greenville SC, The Generous Garden supplies locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables to food banks and shelters.
The organic produce is grown by volunteers on an unused plot of land behind a health food store.
The Generous Garden Project started in April 2011 and in its first year, it grew and distributed 32,000 lbs of produce, the equivalent of over 21,000 meals.

“A Staggering Mess” as Tsunami Debris Hits Alaska Coast Early
Gulf of Alaska Keeper, a non-profit organization that estimates it has cleared nearly 1,000,000 pounds of plastic debris from Alaskan coasts over the past 10 years, is reporting “tons” of what it believes is likely tsunami debris washing up on the coasts of the Kayak and Montague islands. Chris Pallister, president of Gulf of Alaska Keeper, told Alaska’s KTUU TV that ““It’s a staggering mess [...] the magnitude of this is just hard to comprehend and I’ve been looking at this stuff a long time.”

Key tests in search for life in frozen Antarctic lake
Crucial training has begun for a project to search for life in a lake hidden beneath the Antarctic ice-sheet.
Scientists and engineers are rehearsing the most challenging stages of the drilling operation planned for Lake Ellsworth.
The goal is to gather samples of water and sediment in a hunt for microbial organisms and clues about past climate.
Training is focused on the handling of a water sampling device and a corer to extract sediment from the lake floor.
“This level of hygiene has never been attempted before in the exacting conditions of a polar region.”
To avoid contamination, the drilling has to be undertaken in conditions cleaner than those required in an operating theatre.

Bunkers for all
Switzerland is unique in having enough nuclear fallout shelters to accommodate its entire population, should they ever be needed.
"Why on earth have you got a reinforced steel door in your cellar?" The amazement of a visiting Italian friend is easy to understand. He has never been in the basement of a Swiss home.
Cellar? Well, the room is half full of bottles of wine, old books, a freezer, unwanted clothes... but a cellar it certainly is not. Our friend has simply stumbled upon our fallout shelter. Thanks to the thick armoured door and the ventilation system, with anti-gas filter, if the worst came to the worst, the 25 or so tenants of our block could survive even a nuclear strike.

Long-Lasting La Niña Finally Ends
The La Niña climate pattern that has been in place over much of the last two years finally dissipated last month as expected, and neutral conditions are now in place over the tropical Pacific, government climate scientists said today (May 3).
Officials with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration had predicted in March that La Niña would peter out by the end of April.
When a La Niña pattern is in place, water temperatures in the tropical Pacific are cooler than normal, which has far-reaching consequences for climate and weather patterns around the globe.

Human genes engineered into experimental GMO rice being grown in Kansas
Unless the rice you buy is certified organic, or comes specifically from a farm that tests its rice crops for genetically modified (GM) traits, you could be eating rice tainted with actual human genes. The only known GMO with inbred human traits in cultivation today, a GM rice product made by biotechnology company Ventria Bioscience is currently being grown on 3,200 acres in Junction City, Kansas -- and possibly elsewhere -- and most people have no idea about it.

Anatomy of a Heart Attack – The Recovery
I’m in my eighth week of recovery from a heart attack experienced on February 26, 2012.  Since then, I’ve explored the murky world of aftercare, finding great relief in the Good Samaritan cardiac rehabilitation clinic in South Hill.

Rehab is a lot like a gym where guys like me can slowly rebuild stamina and muscles, guiding the body’s recovery from the trauma of a stent placement or bypass surgery back to full health.  Besides the treadmill machines and rowing devices, there are weekly educational classes and nutritional seminars that include tours of a local Safeway grocery store.

FDA Allows Corporations to 'Recondition' Old Food
In order to save money, some corporations will repackage older food into new packaging and resell it. One public school lunch supplier tried this with moldy apple sauce re-canned and was reprimanded to never try that “stunt” again.
The FDA was contacted by Snokist Growers of Yakima, Washington. This is just one group trying to ensure “reworking” food is not a normal practice.
“I was appalled that there were actually human beings that were OK with this,” said Kantha Shelke, a food scientist and spokeswoman for the Institute of Food Technologists. “This is a case of unsafe food. They are trying to salvage that to make a buck.”

21 Questions 'They' Don't Want You To Ask

Do you ever get the feeling that the mainstream media is feeding you a very watered-down and twisted version of the news?  Do you ever get the feeling that the federal government does not believe that the American people can actually be trusted with the truth?  It is exasperating to realize that the news that the public is being fed every single day is very heavily filtered and very heavily censored.  In a world where "spin" is everything, simply telling the truth is a revolutionary act.  Fortunately, the Internet has helped fuel the rise of the alternative media, and millions of Americans that are starting to wake up are turning to the alternative media for answers to their unanswered questions.  Increasingly, people are becoming willing to question the orthodoxy that is being shoved down their throats by the major news networks, and that is a very good thing.  The world is becoming an incredibly unstable place, and it is more imperative than ever that we all learn to think for ourselves.  We live during a time of great deception, and the lies are going to get even bigger and even more bold in the years to come.  If we don't know why we believe what we believe, then we are in danger of falling for just about anything.

Remedy of the Week
Mosquito Warfare

The best treatment for mosquito bites is to prevent them before these nasty little predators have a chance to drill for blood through your skin. You can probably tell I have no love lost for these menacing winged devils. I am especially upset today because I have 30+ welts all over my body from an encounter I had earlier in the week. I was not expecting mosquitoes. They caught me off guard and without protection of Terra Shield. My friend, Jan, and I were together exploring a forested piece of property. She walked through the wood totally unmolested and I came away scratching and clawing.

On The Lighter Side

Six-year-old autistic 'Piano Man' surprises Ann Curry with his skills

Books So Good You Want To Become Them
I don't remember who told me this tale, but it begins with a little boy, maybe 4 or 5, who is given a book. He opens it, begins to read, curls into it, won't look up, can't stop, looks at the pictures, turns the pages, keeps turning, turning, turning, until all too quickly, he's done, finished.
That's when he does this odd thing: He lays the book down, opens it wide and stands on it; one foot planted on opposite pages and, bending at the knees, pushes his heels down.
"What are you doing?" his mother asks.
Looking up, he says, "I want to get inside. How do I get inside?"
Some books are that good.

Blindfolded Archery Yields Results
What do Phoenix Rising School students and England’s Prince William have in common? Both have done archery while blindfolded, although for very different reasons.  The royal heir was attempting to experience what life is like for blind former servicemen and women while visiting St. Dunstan’s, a center which offers services to disabled vets. For PRS students, however, blindfolded archery is part of the curriculum which shifts brain chemistry, develops focus and gives immediate feedback on intent.

“It sharpens will and concentration better than anything I know,” says neuroscience teacher Sonya El Debssi, who also acts as liaison with Ramtha’s School of Enlightenment where blindfolded archery, aka Analogical ArcherySM is a regular discipline. “We do a lot of remote views at PRS, which are about non-local awareness. With remote views, the intent is to know information without using our senses. With archery, the intent is to hit a specific target without using our senses, and to go into a deeper state of focus and awareness. Wearing blindfolds shift brain chemistry, so it’s easier to focus and concentrate. We get immediate feedback as to how clear we were in our intent. Did your arrow fall short? Did you hit your neighbor’s target instead of your own?”
