Editors Corner

We’re back.  Did you miss us?  Last week we called a last minute personal day off. The reaction was interesting. . . it was quite nice to know you noticed we were missing from your inbox.  Your emails and phone calls let us know you care and you count on us.  Thanks.
This week Terri Simpson is doing her best to get us ready to feed our families no matter what earth and economic changes come our way. Thanks once again, Terri, for reminding us that is it the simple things we need to concentrate on, like toilet paper and beans. Click here
Meanwhile in Earth Watch, strong earthquakes are rocking the planet and a few people are starting to notice.  Dutchsinse noticed very high radiation pikes from two sources. This is a mystery worth solving. I wonder where the questions will lead? Click here
You have to watch the video entitled “Murmuration”.  I don’t want to spoil it for you, but trust me—you have never seen anything like it.  Spectacular! Click here
Next in Earth Watch is a video about radiation found in the concrete being used to build new homes in Japan. This is a strange “what if” come true way too close to home for me.  Just after the Fukashima accident I had occasion to talk with one of the local concrete suppliers. He told me that the raw material for concrete is often sourced from Japan.  I could not believe it then, that it would make sense financially to ship rock all the way from Japan, but he assured me it did.  So, I think in light of this information, it is a good idea to make sure that the concrete you use is not from Japanese rock. Click here
This newsletter is a collection of so many diverse subjects, I really just want to say, “Click away”, I don’t want you to miss out on any of the stories. Ever heard of Socotra Island, off the coast of the horn of Africa? These pictures are amazing! Click here

Take time to listen to VS Ramachandran’s TED talk. You will need another hour to contemplate what he says, but I bet you will think of a time you experienced exactly what he is talking about. Click here
Runners and Mirrors are especially poignant after listening to Ramanchandran. Both stories are very touching. Click here

Half Way Thru 2012 And You Still Need Supplies
How to Prioritize What You Need to Buy
By Teri Simpson of Optimum Preparedness

Yes, I wrote an article on the need to prioritize what you still should get. The problem is, I did not tell you how to do that. I gave no details. After a couple of recent conversations, I realized that I spoke in generalities, I did not give specifics. I said buy "staples" before "fun foods." Well, that is all well and good if you already have a clear picture of what "staples" are, and know how to figure out how much of them you still need to get. Soooo.... time for a little clarification.

Let's look at
  1. Keeping the body alive and healthy
  2. Keeping the body clean and warm
  3. Then, making the personality happy (although points 1 and 2 should make the personality thrilled ;o)

What to buy first to finish your food storage – you'll want the Basics to keep you alive, before looking at comfort food, fun food, luxury food items, etc

What additional items do you need after you have food (man does not live by bread alone, man needs toilet paper too) – you'll want the Basics to care for your body and biological processes before you look at books, music, electronics, etc.

So here are some of the details that I assumed were obvious but actually were not (at least not to everyone).

BASICS - What to buy first in the Food category

I provided an Excel food doc that showed the quantity of grains/pasta, beans/legumes, etc that are needed for one person for one year.  Click here for the document.  You need to double those amounts to have 2 years worth. What I didn't say is that the items are listed in order of priority.

This means that you want to get the grains and beans/legumes first. They are the very foundation of your food storage items. While potentially boring, 1 part beans/legumes to 3 or 4 parts grain will give you a complete protein, which will keep you alive and healthy (although pearled barley and white rice are pretty stripped of their nutrients, and brown rice and hulled barley are much more nutritious). The bottom line is keeping you alive and healthy and the grains + beans/legumes will do that. Happy is up to you :o)

Once you have these first two things then you go to the next couple of categories (some of these things can happen simultaneously – like buying a couple pounds of salt or sugar each time you go the grocery store).

U.N.: Earth near 'biophysical limits'
Earth's environmental systems are nearly at "their biophysical limits," portending irreversible and possibly cataclysmic world changes, a U.N. report warns.
Environmental disasters ranging from arctic and antarctic sea ice and ice sheet shrinkage to Amazon rainforest deforestation, and from ozone depletion to an escalation of planetary toxins, are pushing the planet to an ecological tipping point that could change life as we know it, the U.N. Environment Program said in a report released in Rio de Janeiro.

"Something Is Seriously Wrong - Too Many Strong Earthquakes", Scientist Says
Does a supernatural seismic activity threaten our planet? Apparently, something unknown has triggered a "terrible and global domino", according to scientists who observe recent earthquake reports. Seismologists recognize that what happens to the seismic activity goes beyond the level generally considered as normal. Nothing can strike fear in the hearts of people quite like natural disasters. Among them are earthquakes, happening much more often recently.

No one knows why they do it. Yet each fall, thousands of starlings dance in the twilight above England and Scotland. The birds gather in shape-shifting flocks called murmurations, having migrated in the millions from Russia and Scandinavia to escape winter’s frigid bite. Scientists aren’t sure how they do it, either.

Arctic melt releasing ancient methane
Scientists have identified thousands of sites in the Arctic where methane that has been stored for many millennia is bubbling into the atmosphere. The methane has been trapped by ice, but is able to escape as the ice melts. Writing in the journal Nature Geoscience, the researchers say this ancient gas could have a significant impact on climate change. Methane is the second most important greenhouse gas after CO2 and levels are rising after a few years of stability.

Remedy of the Week
Type II Diabetes

A few months ago, I met Vince Garcia. I found his story compelling and I asked him to share it with MastersConnection2020 readers. Here is his story. It is a story of hope for all Type II Diabetics.

My story begins 10 years ago when I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. I was brought under control at first with Metformin and Avandia, It brought my sugars down, but were never really under control. These drugs kept me heavy, dizzy and thirsty, I then decided that my health was more important than my career in the restaurant business, so I packed up the family and moved to Utah to learn the Herbs for Health business from my brother Al. My wife and I trained with Al for a year, and begun to attack Diabetes naturally with herbs, vitamins, minerals, cleansing, Beamer 3000 and raw cereals.

Then we met Dr. David Hill one of the founders of doTERRA, he introduced me to Coriander, Lemon and Oregano essential oils that were to be taken in a capsule internally this helped balance my blood sugars naturally and detoxifies the body at the same time.

Something Worth Knowing

Build a Compost Bin from Wooden Pallets

Is your cookware killing you?
Our health is greatly influenced by the food we eat and how we cook it. The nutrient density of food can be easily damaged by overheating our foods along with the damaging chemicals and heavy metals that leach into it from our cookware. Heavy metals from cookware alter enzymes and tastes and ultimately end up in the body. You can buy the very best organic food and inadvertently turn it into poison by cooking it wrong.

Zip Lock Baggies...........who knew?

ZIP LOCK BAG - Good tip!

We went with friends to a restaurant on Sunday for lunch and sat in the patio section beside the store. We happened to notice zip lock baggies pinned to a post and a wall. The bags were half filled with water, each contained 4 pennies, and they were zipped shut. Naturally we were curious! The owner told us that these baggies kept the flies away! So naturally we were even more curious! We actually watched some flies come in the open window, stand around on the window sill, and then fly out again. And there were no flies in the eating area! This morning I checked this out on Google. Below are comments on this fly control idea. I'm now a believer!

In The News

How Christian fundamentalists plan to teach genocide to schoolchildren
The Bible has thousands of passages that may serve as the basis for instruction and inspiration. Not all of them are appropriate in all circumstances.
The story of Saul and the Amalekites is a case in point. It's not a pretty story, and it is often used by people who don't intend to do pretty things. In the book of 1 Samuel (15:3), God said to Saul:

"Now go, attack the Amalekites, and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys."

Creating Miracles
by Milt Gordon
Yelm, WA

Ramtha's lesson that miracles were a product of the future, not the past, brought back into my awareness an incident of many years ago. The year was 1957 and I was serving a three year enlistment in the army securtiy agency and had been posted to fort huachuca, arizona. The story I had been given was the army security agency was the elite of the us army and required higher than average IQ and ability to qualify for a top secret clearance.

Attitude or gratitude????
by Milt Gordon
Yelm, WA

October 1991, I was a volunteer fireman in California when my fire pager went off summoning a response to a fire call. I was to be part of a strike team being dispatched to the Oakland Hills fire – a fire that subsequently became the largest urban area fire to ever occur in the United States. Enroute to the Oakland – Berkeley fire, the radio advised that a total of 150 structures were involved, a figure that over the next three days would grow to include 4400 homes and apartments – a fire so intense that three story brick structures were completely consumed.

Class Practices Talking to Plants

Sonya El Debssi was walking past the science room when the screaming started. “I thought something had happened, or that the kids were just totally out of control,” says the Phoenix Rising neuroscience teacher. When she walked into the room where Neil Kaber was leading his class in an experiment with human/plant communication, she found that for the first time, the plant had “talked” – hence the screams of excitement. “We were the first class that made the plant talk,” says Duke. “I wanted to do it again.”

The plant experiment was born out of Neil’s long term interest in Cleve Baxter and his experiences with plant communication, documented in the 1960’s classic The Secret Life of Plants. “Baxter was a polygraph expert who hooked a polygraph machine to a plant,” says Neil. Baxter observed that the polygraph registered a change in electrical resistance when it was harmed – or even when someone was thinking about harming it.  “He was going to burn a leaf and the plant picked up the consciousness,”says Neil. “He said his life was never the same since. I’ve been thinking about this for years.”

Day Spa Fundraiser a Joyful Success

Imagine if you walked into a regular 5th grade classroom, expecting to see desks and bookshelves and instead found yourself surrounded by massage tables and candles. It might seem like a surreal dream but that’s exactly what happened at Phoenix Rising on May 27th. A team of volunteer parents and health and wellness practitioners magically transformed the school into a Day Spa featuring massage, facials, detoxing foot baths, haircuts, aromatherapy and much more and succeeded in raising almost $4,000 for PRS. “It was a very original and fun event,” says parent Alice Fairley. “I’ve never heard of a school doing anything like this.”

The idea originated when a group of parents got together to brainstorm how to raise money for the P.O.W.E.R. fund.* Anita Marriott offered to volunteer her aroma therapy team as a fundraiser. “I had gotten involved in essential oils,” she says, “and I wanted to do something with my business to contribute to the school.” Alice made a comment about an ‘Aroma Spa’ and “from there we moved forward with the spa idea,” says Ayelet Yedidia, who became the chief organizing force behind the event.
