Modicum of Hope

If you are reading this, most likely you are one of those people who wake up with a modicum of hope, for your day, for your life. There are a lot of people who don't have that luxury and feel very little hope in all aspects of their life. Men particularly, can't get a job and feel emasculated by not being able to provide for their loved ones.

People with hope may get sick, may have pain in their bodies and be subscribed opioids, They will take them until the pain has gone, and then get on with their lives.

People with no hope can get trapped by those opioids, and fall deeper into their abyss.

There was a study done on rats. Rats, all alone in a small cage, given the choice of water or water infused with opioids would drink the infused water until they died.

Put that rat in a Rat Park, a large unit with lots of room to move around in, other rats to interact with, objects to play with etc., those rats, when offered the choice of plain water or infused water, chose the plain water.

Like after the 1930's Great Depression, people need work. Even though our biggest corporations are more wealthy than ever, they aren't offering work. They are spending their huge profits on buying back shares so the company looks profitable and the CEO's can take higher wages.

We are the wealthiest country in the history of the world. We are beyond rhetoric, we need jobs and the government, as the employer of last resort needs to step up and provide them. We need infrastructure, we need healthcare workers, we need teachers. If it's ok for the government to spend billions on tax rebates for the wealthy, subsidies for oil companies and on the war machine, why not on people with no hope.
