Gordon Gekko

I didn't see Michael Douglas play Gordon Gekko in the movie Wall Street. I just watched Bill Moyers on PBS Moyers & Company play that clip where Gekko explains how the wealthy run the country while everyone thinks we are a democracy.  I was dumbfounded. That 25 year old movie says it all.

Moyers went on to speak with Jacob Hacker and Paul Pierson, authors of Winner-Take-All Politics: How Washington Made the Rich Richer — And Turned Its Back on the Middle ClassThey argue that our huge inequality is no accident, that it has been politically engineered over the past 30 years.

What saddens me is how good people have been duped.  They don't realize how bad our 'Winner take All' mentality has decimated the middle class. It didn't have to be this way. Other countries didn't choose this route and they have wealthier middle classes.

The wealthy 1% here have made so much money in the past 30 years that it's hard to believe. Think about this. The bottom 80% of us own just 5% of the financial wealth in this country.

Until you wake up to this, educate yourself, do some research, read some books, nothing will change.
